The Men's Choir

The St. James & St. John Men's Choir with David Bunnell

Jennie Bryenton began the men's choir on April 15th, 1994 with 15 members. At its high point their numbers rose to 22 with a few men joining from other churches. The men all loved her and she dearly loved "her men", although she set high standards requiring almost perfect attendance and strict attention to her direction.

Jennie made sure the Choir had public exposure and they were often invited to sing in other churches from Doaktown to Burnt Church. As well, they often sang at the Senior Citizen's Home. Their "home away from home" was Grace Presbyterian Church in Millerton where the late Rev. Murdo McKay, a great supporter of Jennie, would invite the Choir to sing 5 or 6 Gospel Hymns three or four times a year.

Eight years after her death, Jennie must be well pleased to see the Choir active under the direction of David Bunnell and with new members augmenting the ranks of those who have been so faithful for 13 years.

The Men's Choir was Jennie"s life-blood in her end days doing as much for her as she had done for the men. She will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate to be in the Choir in 1994 and up to her death in June of 1999.
